Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic individual to join the pharmacy clinical trials team based at Salford at the Northern Care Alliance, to support the delivery of an expanding portfolio of clinical trials.

The team provides pharmacy support to a wide range of commercial and non-commercial clinical trials involving medicines, in a range of clinical areas including advanced therapies and are responsible for all aspects of Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP) management.

You will work within the team as a pharmacy clinical trials assistant, ensuring that a high-quality service is provided to all service users and that work is planned and prioritised appropriately to meet the high demands on the service, and ensuring the smooth running of all clinical trials.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an excellent communicator who is flexible, motivated and organised, with outstanding attention to detail to join our team.

You must hold or be working towards NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) and have experience of working as part of a team in a hospital pharmacy setting. 

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and will develop and maintain good working relationships with research teams, trial sponsors and other members of staff in order to work collaboratively to deliver the highest level of patient care.

Your main responsibilities will be IMP management activities including ordering, receipt, dispensing, processing returns and disposal to ensure a full audit trail of all clinical trial medicines as well as participating in audits, invoicing and hosting site visits.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 2 GCSE’s (Grade A-D) or equivalent in Mathematics and English
  • NVQ2 in Pharmacy Services or equivalent nationally recognised qualification, or in the process of completing

Knowledge, Training & Experience

Essential criteria
  • Hospital pharmacy experience
  • Experience of working in a team
  • Computer experience, including Microsoft Office
  • Dispensing experience
Desirable criteria
  • Clinical trials experience
  • Good Clinical Practice (GCP) Training

Skills & Abilities
