Job overview
An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Gynaecology Team as an Audio Typist. The post holder will provide effective and flexible clinic typing/clerical support within the medical secretary team.
Working to the Gynaecology Directorate, you will be well supported and encouraged to develop in this role.
This post is for 37.5 hours a week.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
• To effectively and efficiently perform a full range of typing duties.
• To efficiently and accurately type letters relating to patients’ clinic appointments, test results, referrals and discharge summaries from audio dictation in compliance with Directorate policies and procedures.
• Comply with ABUHB policies.
• Liaise effectively with all levels of personnel within the Service, ABUHB and stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner in line with the ABUHB Values and Behaviours Framework.
• To ensure audio typing is undertaken within indicated timeframes and in line with service processes
• Must be flexible to the needs of the service
• Take responsibility for acting within the limits of your competence and seek guidance from your line manager if unsure.

Qualifications and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Education to GCSE level (including English Language)
- Knowledge of secretarial or administrative procedures acquired through experience and training to Vocational Level 3 or equivalent demonstrable level of knowledge and experience.
- Excellent communication skills and good organisation skills
- Knowledge of IT systems
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience working on computers
- Experience of working within an office environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages including Outlook, Excel and Word
- Advanced keyboard skills or equivalent experience in typing and Audio Typing
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience within the NHS
- Relevant experience of using/typing medical terminology within a secretarial/clerical role within the NHS
