Job overview

We are looking to recruit a full-time Senior Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical/  Counselling/ Forensic) or a more recently qualified Practitioner Psychologist seeking a preceptorship role to join the in-patient service at Berrywood Hospital for adults of working age within Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (NHFT).

This service offers psychological assessment, formulation and intervention for people over the between the ages of 18-65 years with difficulties including Complex Emotional Needs and Psychosis. 

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work alongside an enthusiastic multidisciplinary team to:

  • Offer assessment, formulation and intervention for a wide range of presentations using both individual and group approaches
  • Support the development of the Structured Clinical Management (SCM) pathway for adults living with personality disorder
  • Support the development of a psychosis pathway for adults living with psychosis / schizophrenia.
  • Offer Case Formulation, reflective practice and training sessions for staff teams to extend psychological ways of working, including reflective practice. 
  • Offer enhanced assessment for more complex presentations
  • Collaborate in using outcome information to inform and develop good practice.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Joining this service can offer:

  • Preceptorship programme for newly qualified staff wishing to progress to a Senior role.
  • Supervision from a  Senior or Principal Psychologist.
  • Support to develop skills in supervision and teaching through joint supervision and lecturing. 
  • Opportunities for training in therapeutic models used within the service.
  • Opportunities for innovative joint work with 3rd sector organisations.
  • The opportunity to work within a well integrated Psychology Service that meets monthly for CPD, case audits and organisational support.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Doctoral Qualification in Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychology & Eligible for HCPC registration or similar psychological therapy/psychology training qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Post qualification training in a specific, relevant therapeutic approach.
  • Post qualification training in supervising others

Interest

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrates interest/enthusiasm for working with people in inpatient services
Desirable criteria
  • Interest in working with teams and organisations

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience working with people with psychosis, mood disorders and personality issues
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of formal assessments (ADHD, ASD, Neurocognitive etc.)
  • Experience of work with service users with complex emotional needs
