Band 6

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in a progressive Adult Autism Diagnostic Service in Rotherham to join the team on a temporary basis to cover maternity leave. The role will offer opportunities for professional development within a highly specialist service in an evolving area of clinical practice. The post offers an excellent opportunity for an occupational therapist with in-depth knowledge and skills to provide evidence based occupational therapy assessment and intervention for adults newly diagnosed as autistic.

Based at Centenary Clinic, Rotherham, you will be joining a passionate, dedicated, and supportive Multi-Disciplinary Team with a focus on compassionate person-centred, quality care and support. You will have an opportunity to contribute to service improvement and developments within community services. The role may particularly appeal to those with an interest in sensory processing and integration. The post holder will be overseen by the Band 7 Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist within the team.

We have strong links with local universities and provide ongoing practice placements for occupational therapy students.

Main duties of the job

You will provide support and advice to the multidisciplinary team and assess the occupational, vocational, and sensory needs of service users facilitating service user self-awareness, self-management skills and advocating for any adjustments to enable occupational participation.

  • You should have demonstrable post registration experience of working at a senior level in mental health services.
  • You will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and working in partnership with a range of external agencies.

The Allied Health Professionals and occupational therapy network within the organisation is well established and supportive, providing opportunities for collaboration and support related to development of occupational therapy practice and services.

The Trust has a well developed appraisal and supervision structure in place and actively encourages continuing professional development.

The role has the opportunity for flexible working with the holder able to work remotely for some of the week and some flexibility with working hours. This may make the role even more appealing and accessible for applicants.

We welcome all forms of diversity and are happy to accommodate reasonable adjustments requests.

You should be a team player, confident and effective communicator with service users, carers, and staff of all professional groups as well as with external partner agencies.
