Job overview
We are looking for a reliable, proactive, and hard‑working Waste Services Operative to join our Estates & Facilities team. You will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant collection and disposal of all waste streams across the Trust. This is a physically active role that supports the smooth running of our hospital services and contributes directly to a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Waste Collection & Disposal
- Collect all waste types from wards and departments, including:
clinical, offensive, sharps, domestic, recyclable, confidential, WEEE, batteries, toner, and food waste. - Ensure correct segregation of waste and safe placement in designated areas within waste compounds.
- Move, clean, and maintain commercial‑sized waste bins.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation within waste compound areas.
- Ensure all equipment required for duties is kept safe, clean, and well maintained.
- Report any Health and Safety concerns or hazards across the Trust.
- Adhere to all Trust and departmental policies and statutory regulations.
Communication & Teamwork
- Maintain effective communication with the Line Manager and members of the Estates team.
- Respond to allocated tasks within required timeframes and carry them out professionally.
- Attend and contribute to departmental meetings as required.
