Main duties of the job
As an Infrastructure Engineer you will be part of a dynamic team responsible for the support, maintenance and development of the Trust’s network and telephony infrastructure
An Infrastructure Engineer must be able to maintain and troubleshoot the Digital Services Infrastructure to enable maximum system availability. A key part of the role is to investigate and demonstrate the use of new and emerging technologies which can support and improve ways of working across the organisation.
The post holder will be expected to participate in the Digital Services Out of hours On-Call emergency service.

Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience working in a digital services environment, providing advanced technical support for Microsoft technologies
- Experience of Cisco Internetwork Operating System for the configuration of associated products
- Proven attention to detail and investigation skills in order to react to key cyber security alerts with the ability to prevent, mitigate and resolve in the appropriate and timely manner
- Experience in the Installation, support and configuration of Firewalls and Access Control devices, Core Switching and Routing devices
Desirable criteria
- Experience of working with Cloud Environments including Microsoft365 and Azure
- Experience of patch management on enterprise networks and associated rationale. Ability to and support ongoing patching of key infrastructure hardware and systems
- Experience in training staff in the familiarisation of new technologies and procedures
Skills and Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Excellent ability in working with a diverse range of technical operating systems and applications
- Strong technical skills with an overarching view of several technologies and demonstrable specialist skills in several areas including Digital Telephony and Microsoft server products
- An ability to attend any of our main sites within two hours of a call coming in, 24 hours a day, when on the on call rota, highly likely to mean you have a full clean UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, although we will consider reasonable adjustments under the equality Act 2010
- Ability to work autonomously and manage own workload to meet key targets and deliverables
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge and experience of Infrastructure Virtualisation
- Knowledge of Cloud Computing concepts and the IaaS, PaaS and SaaS, service models
- Advanced technical fault resolution skills, including applying fixes using complex software modifications and procedures
- An understanding of Storage Area Networks
- Knowledge of Wireless security standards used when implementing wireless networks
Planning and Organisation
Essential criteria
- Ability to plan and organise the installation of equipment and other digital services in order to meet the goals of Digital Services strategy and various projects.
Desirable criteria
- Ability to prioritise and quickly assess major technical issues to minimise downtime and ensure a high business continuity level is maintained
Education and Qualifications

- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience

- Evidence of continuing professional development
