We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Children’s Nurse to join our Children’s Services team.

We provide a bespoke and comprehensive training and education package.

Main duties of the job

Children’s Inpatient Unit (Ward 30)

Ward 30 is a Children’s Inpatient Unit that was purpose built in 2016. The unit includes 35 inpatient beds and a two-bedded stabilisation area. The ward has an adolescent room, school room, play room and we are currently designing a new sensory room.

Children’s Urgent Care

The Children’s Emergency Department (ED), Children’s Clinical Decisions Area (CCDA) and Short Stay became one unit in November 2023. The Urgent Care nursing team work across the 3 areas.

Children’s ED is a busy department who currently see large volumes of children every year in an area specifically dedicated to children. Children who are attending with urgent care complaints are streamed straight to this area.

The CCDA sees children referred from GPs, children with direct access and children sent from ED requiring a further assessment. The short stay area is for children who require a prolonged period of observation but who are unlikely to need a full admission to hospital, this could include fluid challenges, spacing of inhalers and review by other specialities.

A team of clinical skills educators will be on hand with a supportive and robust training package across both inpatients and urgent care, including:

·         Triage

·         Trauma skills

·         Care of complex inpatients

·         Safeguarding

·         Enhanced Paediatric nursing skills

·         Palliative care

·         Wound care/minor injuries

Working for our organisation
