We are delighted to announce that a 6 month fixed-term opportunity has arisen to work within a specialised Clinical Psychology Service within the Artificial Limb & Appliance Centre based at Wrexham Maelor Hospital.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply
Main duties of the job
With the support of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, the post holder will have the opportunity to undertake a pivotal role in the continued development of this service. Working alongside highly skilled MDT members, the successful applicant will undertake specialised psychological assessment, formulation and interventions with children and adults who have experienced amputation, limb absence, or limb difference and /or their families from across North & Mid Wales. Training and consultation with the multidisciplinary team will be an important part of the role. The post holder will also be part of a supportive national network of clinical psychologists working within this highly specialised field.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will also be a member of the BCUHB Health Clinical Psychology Department, which is a supportive, friendly and growing department of Clinical Psychologists working in physical health services across BCUHB and has strong links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme. The post provides the ideal opportunity to take a senior role in the development of a Clinical Psychology Service for this highly specialised client group.
This a fixed-term post for two days per week (0.4 WTE, 15 hours) based within the Artificial Limb & Appliance Centre, Wrexham.
Welsh language is desirable for this post, but not essential.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Good Honours degree in Psychology. Eligibility for Chartered status with the BPS
- HCPC Registration as a Clinical Psychologist
- Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS
- Clinical Supervision training for doctoral trainees
Desirable criteria
- Advanced training in research design and methodology.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience of qualified clinical psychology practice.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of a variety of relevant therapeutic approaches for mental health work and assessments.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
