Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Receptionist to work within the Wrexham Community Mental Health Team, based at Plas Gororau. The post-holder will be expected to provide comprehensive reception and clerical support for the Mental Health Service, demonstrating a courteous, professional and sensitive manner at all times. The post-holder is expected to prioritise, manage their time and demonstrate a high degree of flexibility.
The ability to speak Welsh is essential for this post.
Main duties of the job
By the nature of the duties, the post-holder will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with patients, carers, relatives, medical/clinical staff and other service users by telephone and face to face with courtesy and discretion at all times.
The post holder will be booking appointments and dealing with patient queries, therefore excellent communication skills and a confident telephone manner is required.
Proficient IT skills (including experience of Microsoft office) is also required as the post holder will also be undertaking a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth day to day running of the practices, including some data inputting.
The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a healthcare setting or a customer service environment but full training can be given to the right candidate.

Essential criteria
- Good standard of education
- NVQ Level 2 in Administration or equivalent qualification/experience
Desirable criteria
- ECDL
- IT qualification or word processing (e.g. RSA 2 or equivalent experience)
Experience / Skills / Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience of using Microsoft Office packages
- Experience of working in a busy reception or office environment
- Experience of dealing with the public on the phone and face to face
- Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
- Ability to input information onto a computer system with speed and accuracy
- Ability to deal with a number of different tasks simultaneously
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of staff both verbally and in writing
- Ability to resolve issues ‘on the spot’ using own judgement

Desirable criteria
- Experience of using an IT system (e.g. EMIS, Oracle, WPAS)
