An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an excellent team within the Women’s  Clinical Business Unit  at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

We are looking for qualified, experienced healthcare assistants with excellent people skills, who are highly motivated who have a woman centered approach to care.

As a Healthcare Assistant you will assist the team and work alongside the nurses, midwives, and medical staff. We have strong links with the sonographers, specialist midwives and the wider organization.

 

 

Main duties of the job

We require support from dedicated Health Care Assistants, who can give physical and emotional support to women. You will be expected to perform phlebotomy skills, assist the nursing, midwifery and medical teams. You will demonstrate a caring and compassionate nature, we will  provide training and exposure on pertinent aspects of the service so you are  confident to support women who are  booking into or attending our services for the first time. Depending on your area of work, women may be distressed or  bereaved following the loss of their pregnancy or as a result of  undergoing a procedure to end a pregnancy due to a poor outcome following their scan. With this in mind, you need to be aware this may be a challenging environment.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will also need to be flexible, and be able to adjust to the demands of the service. You will deliver basic care needs to women which enable the nursing, midwifery and medical teams to prioritise care.

We operate a 24 hr service therefore you will be required to work a variety of 12 hour shifts that include weekends, night duty  and public holidays.

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a health care setting
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of delivering care in Women’s services or emergency care setting

  • Motivation and commitment to provide a high standard of care
  • Reliable, punctual and enthusiastic
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good communication/interpersonal skills with a range of staff and patients

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Minimum NVQ Level 2 in health/health and social care, QCF Diploma in health, *GNVQ, BTEC in health or health and social care (*required to complete care certificate if not already achieved)
  • Care Certificate
  • Math & English A – C or equivalent
