Band 2 Ward Clerk (Bracknell Dialysis Unit)

PLEASE NOTE: This post is based at Bracknell Dialysis Unit, Bracknell Healthspace, Brants Bridge, Bracknell, RG12 9RT - and attracts a Fringe payment of 5% of gross basic salary.

This is a part-time post for 8 hours per week (4 hours per day on Mondays and Wednesdays only).

If you are, we are looking for someone with clerical experience/typing skills who can organise their own workload and embody the Trust’s Values.

This is a varied role based on our busy Bracknell Dialysis Unit.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will assist in maintaining the smooth running of the ward and to relieve the nursing staff of clerical duties:

1. Liaise on a daily basis with nurse in charge.

2. To deal with the following:

- managing patient records including: requesting notes from medical records; tracking notes from the ward; answering medical record requests;

- answering incoming calls and either dealing with enquiries or diverting calls, and

- booking patient transport for outpatient appointments and treatment.

3. To be able to use the EPR system to book appointments, enter demographics, admit and discharge patients.

4. To prepare notes and other relevant documentation for transfer with the patient to the wards as required, tracking using EPR.

5. To support nursing and medical staff as required.

6. To ensure the ward areas are kept well-stocked with stationary, and photocopying as required.

7. Liaise with the facilities department on behalf of staff, logging maintenance requests.

8. Filing reports in and general maintenance of notes.

9. To take responsibility for own personal development.

10. Provide cross cover for Reception area during annual leave, training and sickness.

  • Good general standard of education to include Maths and English
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook
