An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a new, innovative and dynamic team within our expanding Dermatology service. We are looking for experienced and motivated senior nurse who is passionate about service development and providing high standard of patient centred care.

You will be working closely within a Multi-Disciplinary Team of staff including Doctors, General Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists and HCA’s. This role will require strong leadership and visible, credible senior nursing presence accessible to staff, patients and their families.

Main duties of the job

The lead Dermatology Clinical Nurse Specialist is a leadership role within the trust, integral to the provision of a high quality service for patients.

The post holder will play a key role as a member of the Dermatology team improving clinical outcomes for people by enhancing the role of nurse led services within the dermatology multi- disciplinary team and working to developing an integrated approach to care. 

  • To provide strategic leadership and vision for Dermatology nursing within Homerton healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. 
  • To provide strategic leadership and vision for Dermatology nursing.
  • The post holder will ensure a cohesive and quality driven services, which responds to and provides appropriate and equitable care. 
  • To take the lead role in the responsibility for the strategic and operational management of the dermatology nursing service, working with the lead medical consultant, Head of Nursing and Service Manager. 
  • To ensure and maintain clearly defined lines of communication with primary healthcare teams in order to facilitate the care of people with skin diseases. 
  • To provide specialist care for patients on biologics.
  • Develop integrated care and quality improvement across the dermatology department being an active member of the multi-disciplinary team. 
  • To champion dermatology nursing within the wider nursing community, undertake relevant service development and publications as appropriate.

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Nursing or other relevant healthcare professions
  • MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice/equivalent
  • Non-medical prescribing
  • Certificated speciality courses
  • Recognised teaching qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards masters if necessary
  • Leadership/management training experience

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant post registration experience.
  • Significant experience working in the field of dermatology.
  • Experience of working as a CNS
  • Experience of managing and running clinics
  • Broad clinical experience relevant to the post
  • Specialist skills and experience in the speciality
  • Clinical leadership at a senior level in an acute setting including people, financial and change management
  • Experience of managing investigations and resolving complaints.
  • Experience of conducting research and utilising research in practice
