Band 3 Pharmacy Senior Assistant Technical Officer – Cancer Services

An exciting new opportunity has arisen following the promotion of the previous post holder.

We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Cancer Pharmacy Team to support and assist the supply of medication to this speciality

Main duties of the job

The Pharmacy Senior Assistant Technical Officer will be working within the County Cancer Centre dispensing systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT) using both electronic pharmacy systems and electronic prescribing. Be responsible for receiving orders and stock control including stock taking and completing expiry date checks and undertaking top of ward stock.

You will be based in the Cancer Centre Pharmacy at the County site and as a member of the Cancer Pharmacy Team you will be integral to the delivery of high quality pharmacy services to our patients

You will be supporting both the out-patient ward at County site and out-patient’s collecting medication directly from the pharmacy department.

You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be well organised, have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be able to adapt to changing demands, be able to work accurately and under pressure and be committed to providing a high quality patient focused service.

Education and qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 4 GCSEs grade C (new grading 4) or above or equivalent must include Maths, English and Science
  • NVQ Level 2 in pharmacy services OR equivalent relevant qualification to area of speciality AND willingness to work towards NVQ L2 in pharmacy services

Experience

Essential criteria
  • At least 1 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Experience of working with standard operating procedures
  • Team working
  • Experience of using computer systems including Microsoft applications
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of dealing with customers and difficult queries.

Skills, Ability and knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Ability to communicate with a range of people
  • Ability to investigate queries, taking action if appropriate
  • Ability to realise when it is necessary to liaise with senior staff
  • Ability to prioritise own workload and work as part of a team
